Harry Potter Month: My HP Profile

Harry Potter Month is hosted by Faith at Geeky Zoo Girl and Micheline at Lunar Rainbows Reviews. This awesome event runs all through July, and you can find more information about it here.

Hello, fellow Potterheads! I'm THRILLED to be participating in Harry Potter Month again! Last year was so much fun, and I'm looking forward to another fantastic event this year!

To start off last year's HP Month here on the blog, I wrote a post about how I first became acquainted with this wondrous world of Harry Potter. I still wanted to write some kind of intro post as the inaugural one for this year's event but with a bit of a twist on it. So I thought I'd put together a little personalized HP profile, a snapshot of sorts of HP and me:

  • Name: Lee
  • Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
  • Ilvermorny House: Thunderbird
  • Year I Discovered HP: 2001, the year the first movie adaptation released. It was seeing Sorcerer's Stone that finally got me to start reading the books.
  • Last Time I Read the Books: 2007, I think. It's definitely been too long. :(
  • Favorite Book: Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Favorite Film: Prisoner of Azkaban (There might just be a theme going on here, lol.)
  • Favorite Character: Sirius Black (Definitely a theme going on here. XD)
  • Character I Most Identify With: Hermione Granger. She's a kindred spirit, for sure. Books are life for us! And I think I would be more horrified by the prospect of getting expelled from school than getting devoured by a three-headed dog, especially if the school in question was Hogwarts!
  • Character I Wish I Were More Like: Luna Lovegood. Luna is such a free-spirit and lives in the moment. I'm always running around at a million miles an hour stressing over something, lol.
  • Spell I'd Use Right This Moment: Accio, and I'd use it to summon the donut that's sitting on my kitchen counter right now. XD
  • Kiss, Kill, Marry (Marauders Edition): I think it's safe to assume we'd all kill Wormtail, right? XD So the choices are between Sirius, Remus, and James. I'd marry Sirius, kiss Remus, and, sadly, I'd have to kill poor James. Not proud of that last one, but I'm definitely marrying Sirius!

If anyone would like to do a similar post, please feel free to—I'd love to check yours out! :D Also feel free to change up the list items!

  1. That's an excellent idea! I have to do something like that too. Great to meet you, fellow Ravenclaw and Thunderbird! We have a match there in № 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10)))

    1. Yay for Ravenclaw and Thunderbird! I think it's neat how we have a bird theme going on! :D

  2. What is an Ilvermorny house? I've read all of the books and seen the films, and yet I haven't the foggiest notion what that is. Sorry!

But yeah, who doesn't love Sirius? But I think I'd kiss James and sadly, kill Remus.

This is such a cool idea! I might do something like this, because it was actually a lot of fun to read...

    1. Ilvermorny is the North American school of magic; you can now be sorted into one of its houses on Pottermore. :D

I hope you decide to do a post! I love reading what everyone's HP favorites are!

  3. LOVE this idea Lee^^ If my posts for this year weren't already done up, I'd whip up a similar post myself :D As it is, either I'll cave and add an extra post to my line up OR I'll definitely do one of these posts next year LOL! LOVE PoA - and Sirius of course, definitely identify with Hermione the most though for me, there's probably a fair share of Luna mixed into that as well haha! Oh if I do Kill, Marry Kill, I'd HAVE to be obvious and stick with killing Wormtail because I'm sobbing just thinking about killing James LOL D: LOVE this post ♥ And YAY Harry Potter Month!!

    1. That is so awesome that all your HP Month posts are done! I jotted down a few ideas the other day but still have yet to turn them into actual posts. XD

I *wish* I had more of Luna's personality traits. She always seems so calm and happy, and I'm definitely the opposite of calm most of the time, lolol.

  4. What a great post! The character that I wish I was more like is Ginny. I'd love to have that much confidence. I have actually been called Luna on one occasion, which was a great compliment. I love PoA also. Any book that spends time on the Marauders is awesome.

    1. I'd love to have Ginny's confidence, too! The Marauders are a HUGE reason why I love PoA so much; I really, really, really hope that JKR writes a prequel about them one day.

  5. Oooh I like this post. May definitely have to do one as well. I'm still coming up with my post ideas. I think your answers are fantastic. Pottermore put Zane and I in Ravenclaw this go round. I am thinking about whipping something up specifically about Ilvermorny if no one else has. I agree with you about wishing to be more like Luna. She's so optimistic and care-free. Kiss, Marry, Kill - I couldn't imagine you wanting to marry someone other than Sirius there so it's a no brainer.

    1. I'm still working on post ideas, too, lol. I thought I wrote down a few last year so I wouldn't have to scramble last minute this year, but I must have dreamed doing that because I don't know where I put the list. XD

I definitely need some of Luna's optimism! And I didn't even think twice about marrying Sirius. :D

  6. This is so awesome, and I definitely think I might have to do a similar one myself. I think my Kiss, Marry, Kill answers might make me very unpopular though!

We match on Ilvermorny houses, though not Hogwarts houses, since I'm definitely a Slytherin, so that's pretty interesting. I could definitely do with some of Luna's characteristics too - I'm very like you in terms of stressing about things and not being as free-spirited as I'd like!

    1. She seems to just go with the flow, which is so not me, lol! I could absolutely learn a lot from her!

  7. I love this post! If there's another Harry Potter Month next year, I might have to fill it out myself. ^_^
There's definitely no harm in your Sirius theme; I get the impression it's a rather popular one. I know I love him!
Ouch! Kill poor James? AGAIN?! *sigh*
Seriously, though, Accio would come in sooo handy.

    1. I would want to use Accio ALL THE TIME, but I'd try my hardest not to so I wouldn't get too lazy, lol.
