Harry Potter Moment of the Week (133)

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! This week's topic is:
Favorite Ginny Moment

We all know that Ginny is an expert at casting the Bat-Bogey Hex, but I also love how fiery she is in the books, something that really didn't get translated to the screen. In honor of her sass, my pick is the scene in Half-Blood Prince when Ron pushes Ginny a bit too far with his big brother protectiveness and breaks up her kissing session with Dean. Furious at Ron's meddling, she really lets him have it, and I can't help but laugh at what she says here to her brother:

"Been kissing Pigwidgeon, have you? Or have you got a picture of Auntie Muriel stashed under your pillow?"

Oh, and all of this happens in front of a mortified Harry. Awkward. XD

  1. Ginny's SASS is why she's so perfect for Harry! I love her fire too and one of my biggest regrets about the movies is how it did NOT even come close to translating there for her character. That's a fantastic moment, she really lets Ron have it...right in front of Harry LOL XD

    1. I just love how she stood up to Ron and was hilarious while doing it! Poor Harry- he must've wanted to Disapparate out of there so badly! XD

  2. Sassy Ginny is the best Ginny :) Ugh, Movie Ginny is just like "oh have a biscuit, Harry" whereas Book Ginny is more like "look at me sideways and I'll hex you so bad your children will feel it".

My favourite Ginny moment? Ooh, it's gotta be when Harry is trying to get the Quidditch team to be quiet in HBP and he's struggling, and then all of a sudden Ginny shouts "SHUT IT!"......and all falls silent 'cause you don't mess with Ginny 'Bat-Bogey Hex' Weasley :)

    1. Haha- I love that moment, too! I wish there'd been more of that side of Ginny in the films.

  3. Ginny! I saw the movies before I read the books, so I didn't really like her or understand what all the fuss was about at first. Now I love her, though - and I LIVE for her sassing Harry. xD

  4. I love sassy Ginny! The girl has got so much attitude and I imagine there was never a quiet moment growing up in the Burrow. Also, Ron was being an idiot and he totally deserved her sassy wrath. Poor Harry being caught in the middle, even I can't help but cringe during that scene and I'm only reading it.lol

    1. Ron may have meant well, but he was totally out of line, and he did deserve the full force of Ginny's sass, lol.

  5. Ginny was right, Ron was throwing a bit of jealousy around with that protectiveness. If she didn't stand up to her brothers, I couldn't imagine what her life would be like. I'm glad she has such a good back bone. I thought it was funny that she brought Auntie Muriel back up LOL

    1. I thought that was so funny, too, and her comment about Pigwidgeon, lol. Growing up with six brothers, she definitely would've had to learn to make herself heard, and fast, too!

  6. That scene is so so awkward, but I love that Ginny stood up for herself because honestly, Ron had no business doing that. Yeah, he's her older brother, but he's also known Dean for years. He's got to trust at least a little bit that he'd take care of her. (I guess he doesn't but he's got to at least respect Ginny's choice in boyfriend.) Meanwhile, Harry's realizing his feelings for Ginny, which is so unfortunate because there's nothing like witnessing your crush snogging someone else. It's awful. But yeah, Ron deserved the Pig comment and Auntie Muriel too. That's hilarious! :D

    1. If I'd been in Ginny's shoes, I would've told Ron off, too. He went overboard acting the big brother, and I couldn't feel too sorry for him when Ginny went back at him, lol. I did feel bad for Harry, though; like you said, not only was he caught between the two siblings fighting, but he also saw Ginny kissing Dean. :/
