May 2013 Recap

Yep, last month's recap is a little late. And it's on the lengthy side, too, thanks to everything that went on outside of books and blogging. I'll get to all of that fun stuff in a minute, but first here are the blog happenings for May:

Read:

  • Love and Other Perishable Items by Laura Buzo
  • Inferno by Sherrilyn Kenyon
  • You Are Mine by Janeal Falor
  • Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • Rebel Angels by Libba Bray
  • I'm Nobody by Alex Marestaing
  • Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

May was a completely insane month. Between Ally and Melissa, they had: AP exams, the SAT, final exams, regular band practice, a band concert, a choir concert, a band banquet, a choir banquet, a college scholarship ceremony, an academic awards ceremony, and other things I've probably forgotten by now because there were so many. Their younger brother also had a band concert, which we all attended. And I got to see my best friend since high school for the first time in about 2 years, which was awesome.

The big news is that Melissa is officially a high school graduate! Ally performed with the band at the ceremony and was required to wear a long evening dress. She's dressed casually in this photo because we were going out to dinner beforehand, and it was easier to just change at the school. (I wouldn't have wanted to wear a floor-length dress to a restaurant, either!)

Melissa is also now on Twitter, so if you've enjoyed reading her rants, you can read more of her rant-ish musings and other random thoughts by following: @rantsfromme2you.

And that's it! Here's hoping that this month is a little quieter (probably not—Ally and her brother start band camp in a week), and that everyone has a bit more time for reading.

  1. I haven't posted my recap of May yet so I'm pretty far behind. You got a lot of reviews done! Sounds like quite the full month. Congrats to Melissa :D I enjoy her rants quite a bit so I have followed her by twitter. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. With everything going on the past few weeks, especially last week, I've fallen behind with scheduling ahead and reading. I'm hoping to catch up over the weekend.

Thanks for following Melissa on Twitter! :)

Lee, I've been dying to read the GoT post, but I'm going to be a year behind as I have to wait for the DVDs...such agony :'(

    1. It pains me to shell out the extra $20 for HBO each month, but I really, really wanted to see this season because A Storm of Swords is my favorite book. We can always chat once you've caught up because I end up buying the DVDs anyway and rewatching the whole season before the new one premieres. :)

    1. It was a whirlwind of a month, and I think we're all still recovering from everything, lol.

Melissa is a big Doctor Who fan (she just started watching the David Tennant episodes), and she appreciates the follow! :)
