Harry Potter Moment of the Week (3): Best Odd Thing from HP

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Best Odd Thing from HP

I'm not sure if this exactly qualifies as odd, but something that made me laugh really hard from the books was Fred and George's Portable Swamp from Order of the Phoenix. Only the Weasley twins could have come up with a concoction like that! I loved the chaos it caused, and I loved how it infuriated Umbridge and Filch. It was especially funny when none of the other professors, due to their anti-Umbridge sentiments, would help clear it away. The swamp was certainly an ingenious invention, and it perfectly set up Fred and George's unforgettable departure from Hogwarts.

  1. The oddest moment for me was also in OOTP - when McGonagall insists Harry should have a biscuit!

  4. The swamp! I especially loved the fact that none of the other professors bothered to help clear it. Nothing beats Fred and George Weasley and their inventions! :D

  6. I LOVE that swamp, and I agree the fact that the faculty wouldn't clean it and even blocked off a small square when they were gone was so great. Man, Rowling has a genius mind. I'm going to combine my answer to this week's with next week's since I needed to post a review today. I hope you'll stop by then to see it :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  7. Great choice. The Swamp is neat... especially since at first no one could figure out how to get rid of it (well some could be they left it there anyways). Fun!

    1. Fred and George really pulled off some great pranks in OoTP, and the Swamp was the perfect lead-in to their unforgettable departure from Hogwarts.

  9. bahahaha yeah, I think this qualifies as an odd moment and isn't it just one of the best ones of all?! You're right, only Fred & George could have thoughts of doing something like that. I love how it all went down but the best bit was that Umbridge couldn't get rid of it :D and then like you said, all the teachers refusing to help LOL still cracks me up just thinking about it! Awesome moment Lee

    1. I reread that part repeatedly because it made me laugh so much! One of my absolute favorite things about the whole series was the humor, and Fred and George were usually at the center of it.
