Fandom Mashups (47)

Fandom Mashups is a feature hosted by Lunar Rainbows Reviews. There's a different scenario each week, and you choose a "dream team" of five characters from five different fandoms whom you think are best suited for the situation.

This week's topic is:
You've discovered that you have the unique ability to learn and practice MULTIPLE different kinds of magic. Choose 5 mentors to teach you the ways of their world.

  1. Harry Potter: How could I NOT want to learn from The Boy Who Lived, the wizard who defeated the Dark Lord? Siriusly.
  2. Rowan Whitethorn (Throne of Glass): I admit that this guy intimidates me a little, but he's been successful at training a certain stubborn pupil of his *cough* Aelin *cough*, so clearly he's very good at what he does.
  3. Kell (A Darker Shade of Magic): I think Kell would be an amazing, patient teacher, and I'm absolutely asking him if he has another, impossibly many-sided coat like his that I could borrow. XD
  4. Aang (Avatar: The Last Airbender): For elemental magic, Aang would get the call for sure!
  5. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars): OK, I know that The Force is its own thing and not magic per se, but I just want to learn how to use The Force, all right? The desperation is strong with this one!

  1. Ditto on Harry Potter ♥ - not that that's surprising in the least LOL! I *almost* went with Rowan too! I agree, he intimidates me too but his tough love certainly worked for Aelin! I never even thought of Kell this week D: I seriously need to get going on AGoS to refresh my memory on his amazingness. YES AANG! No matter what your element was for bending, he'd be THE best teacher ever!! And now you've made me wish I'd added Obi as well - I already cheated and added an extra mentor so might as well just kept going XD

    1. If we could only pick one magical mentor, it would be Harry, for sure, forever! He's even got teaching experience, lolol! I've got Kell on my mind because I keep eyeing the copy of AGoS that's on my shelf, begging me to read it, which I will do very, very soon. Aang would also be a very patient instructor, which is excellent because he and Kell could balance out Rowan's intensity. XD

  2. I love to read these post :) Fandom Mashups looks like so much fun.
Anyway, I understand why you picked Obi-wan, we all want to use the Force.

  3. I like your Sirius pun there lol. Except I'd have to go with Lupin instead of Harry because he's my favorite. And he was also a great teacher. My first thought for this topic though was Emery from The Paper Magician. I totally wanna marry him so this would be my chance to meet him, haha, but also, seriously, the paper magic in those books is SO COOL and beautiful and I want to learn it. I haven't read the other books you mentioned or really seen Avatar, but heck, just getting to learn magic period sounds awesome, so I'll take any of them as my mentors lol.

    1. I have The Paper Magician on my Kindle- I really need to get to it, then! I downloaded it because I loved the cover, but the magic (and Emery) sounds so cool!
