Book Loot (16)

We're about halfway through the year, and I'm pretty proud of how much I've cut back on my book spending over the last six months. But, it was my birthday last week, and I decided to treat myself to two sequels that I really, really want to read: The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson and Half Wild by Sally Green.

My awesome co-workers very kindly gifted me some Amazon gift cards, which I will put to good use soon, and some Game of Thrones goodies (they know me so well, lol!).

Ally, The Melissa, and the rest of our family circle further spoiled me with an Olaf mug, a jigsaw puzzle of Cinderella's Castle, an adorable Star Wars notebook, and a Snoopy bag. They also added to my steadily growing GoT Funko collection.

I also went to the library last week for a few books. It had been so long since I'd last been there, I had to renew my library card. :/

Borrowed:

Rook by Sharon Cameron
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Bought:

Half Wild by Sally Green
The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson

  2. Again, happy (belated) birthday Lee!! I'm happy that you got so many gorgeous goodies :D I ♥♥♥ the Snoopy bag! And the Star Wars notebook for that matter! The Cinderalla's Castle puzzle looks fantastic and the GoT items were clearly well chosen ;) As for your books, well Leviathan is one I've had collecting dust on my shelves for far too long so hopefully you'll love it - and motivate me to get on it at the same time LOL And of course, I hope you love the rest of them as well :) You'll be getting something from me as well, belatedly obviously, once I get back on track from BEA/NYC spending. I'm waiting on a few employment opportunities so hopefully soon hehe. Enjoy ALL your goodies my dear ♥

    1. Thank you! ❤ I grew up loving all things Snoopy, and I still love him just as much now! Leviathan is going to my next read as soon as I'm done with my current one; Ally loved it, and I am totally, totally into Scott Westerfeld's writing right now!

  3. Happy Belated Birthday =D!! The Olaf mug is the cutest thing ever! I am in love! The Snoopy bag and the Star Wars notebook are the best (be still my beating heart, lol :D)
I heard that Rook is suppose to be amazing! I have not seen a bad review for it yet.

I admire your ability to not buy books. I started out the year with intentions to slow my book buying, and I have, but I am still buying a lot of books, lol =D. There are just so many books I want to read and even though I have a TBR pile a mile long I still buy so many.

    Happy Birthday Reading =D

    1. Thanks! :D It's been so tough not buying all of the books I'd love to have on my shelves, and even though I've cut down quite a bit on my spending, there's still room for improvement, lol. But there are some books, like A Court of Thorns and Roses, that I HAD to have, and I definitely don't regret buying that one!

  4. I want to read Rook, but have to get through some of my summer pile first. I look forward to seeing what you think of it, and the Westerfeld book. Enjoy.

    1. Thanks! :D I was really intrigued by the premise of Rook, and when I saw it at the library, I couldn't pass it up. I was really happy that Leviathan was there, too, because I've completely fallen in love with Scott Westerfeld's writing!
