Know Me Better (8)

Know Me Better is a weekly meme hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer.

Things you’d rather be doing right this moment
Ally: Reading, writing, practicing my flute.
Lee: Reading, sleeping (really missing that lost hour due to setting the clock ahead).

Time wasters
Ally: Television commercials, waiting on lines.
Lee: All social networking media.

Books they should make into movies
Ally: The Raven Boys, Throne of Glass, Leviathan.
Lee: The Infernal Devices, Unspoken, Unearthly.

Things you wish you knew before . . . . (fill in the blank)
Ally: Before this year, I wish I'd known it's inevitable that some of your friends and you will grow apart. Also, when you're in a leadership position, you can't make everyone happy. Finally, college is expensive.
Lee: Before I turned 30, I wish I'd known that a lot of life changes were ahead of me, and that there wasn't much I could have done differently to avoid some of them. Some things are just meant to happen a certain way.

Games you like to play
Ally: Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, Spyro.
Lee: Scrabble, Tetris, Rock Band, the Lego Harry Potter video game, and, occasionally, Call of Duty (I get to take out my frustration on some CPU characters).

  2. HaHa! You have no idea how glad I am that I read your post because I forgot to set my clocks forward. My goodness, better go fix my alarm clocks in my bedroom. I'm with you on wanting more time to read. I really like playing Spyro and my son enjoys Pokemon and Lego Harry Potter a lot :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven

    1. I forgot to set mine, too! I was supposed to set them last night, but I sat down to read, and, well, that was the end of that. It's a good thing that some of them automatically updated and reminded me that I needed to change the rest.

  3. It is really sad when friendships end, especially when you thought you'd be friends forever, but it does happen. Even when they don't end but you know they're just not the same anymore

    1. At Ally's age, I also thought that my friends then would still be my friends now. Fortunately, a few are, but I suppose it's just a fact of life that with some people, you just drift apart.

    1. I've played some newer versions of Tetris in recent years, but for me, none of them compares to the design of the original. It's definitely my favorite video game of all time!

    1. No matter how much I tried to brace myself, I was still shocked every semester by the cost of my textbooks. It was outrageous, not to mention how heavy most of those things were to lug around. I don't miss that part of being a college student at all.

    1. I had Tetris on the original Game Boy, plus the version for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I spent countless hours playing both!

  8. All the books you guys want turned into movies are on my reading list haha! I also wish I had know before 30 how some things would change, drastically or otherwise. And it is quite sad when friendships end...but it is inevitable, especially as everyone grows older.

I love how you both wish you were reading. Some times when I'm writing up a post I groan at the thought that the time could be better spend making progress with my book :) Oh and the Lego Harry Potter game looks like so much fun!!

    1. When I'm doing just about anything other than reading, I think about how I could be spending that time reading, lol. The Lego Harry Potter game is one of the best video games I've ever played; the entire HP world is in Lego form!

  9. Life lessons...too bad we don't soak up all the wisdom older folks give us when we are younger. It would make things so much easier later in life.

Lee ~ I play shooters to get out my aggression too! It's the best outlet on my grumpier days.

    1. I remember rolling my eyes when I was younger every time my parents said, "Mark my words, blah blah is going to happen" and finding out the hard way that they were right.

Even if I'm just smashing virtual Lego bricks playing Lego Harry Potter or Lego Star Wars, I find those types of games very therapeutic. :-)
