Harry Potter Moment of the Week (89)

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
If You Could Change One Thing in Book One, What Would It Be?

If I had the power to change anything that happened in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, I would change nothing. There are so many details in the first book that build the story and plot up to be what it is that I'd be too scared to change anything in fear of messing up the outcome of the story. The ending of the series is pretty much golden and I wouldn't want one of my small changes to be the factor that leads to a Voldemort happy ending lol. I shall not mess with the forces of J. K. Rowling.

  1. You're right! The books are all perfection and I wouldn't want to change anything either. At first it seemed like fun to get a chance to change one little thing that might bother readers, but then it's like: NO. These books are EVERYTHING! Awesome answer Ally^^

    1. Haha, exactly! At first I considered changing how badly the golden trio perceived Snape (thinking that he was Voldemort's minion instead of Quirrell lol) but then I copped out because Harry not understanding Snape is so integral to the series.

  2. You pretty much summed up everything I was thinking. The books are perfect and so because of that I wouldn't want anything changed. However, I would also be terrified of creating a butterfly effect and changing something small like Dumbledore not mentioning Lemon Drops and then BAM! Umbridge wins the war, lol =D

    1. That was my paranoia too, lol! The HP series has so many tiny details that are vital to the story, so I decided against messing around with changes.

  3. No messing with the forces of JK Rowling! I love that. She does an excellent job of weaving even the tiniest of details into the earlier books that seem irrelevant but then become really important later on. I love that. And I keep finding them each time I reread them.

    1. I haven't done a reread in so long but I'm sure that I'd find a bunch of little details that play a greater role later on in the series too! :)

  4. Haha I think a lot of us were feeling the exact same way - who knows what could happen later down the line if you change even the slightest thing?!

  5. "I shall not mess with the forces of J.K. Rowling." ~ that's epic and too true!! I know it was hard for me to come up with anything so mine is a very minor pick. I agree with you though, it's amazing just how it is.
