Know Me Better (5)

Know Me Better is a weekly meme hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer.

I can't live without . . .
Ally: I don't want to get mushy or anything, so I'm just going to say books.
Lee: My family. They drive me crazy a lot of the time, but I'd really be lost without them.

Do you make your bed each morning?
Ally: Please. No.
Lee: Yes. I am a neat freak.

City or Country?
Ally: City.
Lee: Most definitely City. I spent the first 30 years of my life in New York City, and I miss it a lot. I often wonder if moving 1000 miles away to the suburbs was a wise decision. It was at the time, and it still has its upside, but I second guess it more than I should. If I ever had the money, I'd seriously consider moving back to NYC, though.

Most embarrassing moment?
Ally: I had to do this skit in history class, and my friends and I just wanted to put something together quickly and be done. We were happy and stuff until we had to go up and present. We ended up looking like idiots, but at least we got a passing grade.
Lee: There have been many, but the one that popped into my head was this one time when I was walking my cousins' dog. It had rained, so the sidewalk was slick, and he suddenly decided to veer off in the opposite direction. I lost my footing and went splat on the ground. At least I managed to both put my palms down to keep from face-planting as well as hang on to the leash. My cousins were there, and after they took about 5 seconds to make sure I was in one piece, they then proceeded to laugh at me.

What do you think of book trailers?
Ally: I don't like them. I feel like they don't have anything to do with the book most of the time.
Lee: I really don't watch them, unless it's a book I'm extremely interested in.

  1. Lee - falling flat on my face happened to me more than once and I'm not even drunk or anything. I'm just clumsy that way.

Ally - I rarely watch trailers too. It's so cheesy sometimes. He best I've seen was for ICED by Karen Moning

    1. I am a hopeless klutz. In fact, I just gave myself a rather nice gash on my hand after catching it on a jagged piece of plastic while opening a water bottle. Doh!

  2. Lee, I'm with you on book trailers but I watch them after I read the book

    1. I've done that a few times, too, just out of curiosity.

    1. Ally and I are alike in a lot of ways, but making the bed every morning is not a habit we share, lol.

  4. Oh these are great! I was wondering if people counted on the things you couldn't live without question. I know my son is definitely on there if people is in it. The separate answers on the making bed question was funny. Mine is usually not made. Embarrassing moments are so hard to remember when you have a ton of them! I think I would have to go with misspelling elephant when I was so used to winning spelling bees. I got very nervous in front of a huge crowd. Great answers!! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven

    1. It's funny that we both remember the words that we misspelled in spelling bees! I hated being in front of an audience, too; I felt like my voice was very loud, when in fact it was practically a whisper. And the word I messed up on was "piccolo." Since then, I've never forgotten how to spell it correctly!

  5. As usual, I'm loving these answers - thanks for sharing ladies! I'm like Ally, I definitely do NOT make my bed every morning :-$ Oddly enough, I don't much care for book trailers either. I've never ever been convinced to read a book because of one. I'm a total country girl though. I lived in the city for 10+ years and I loved it at first, when I was a student but by the end I was craving for a little quiet haha!

    1. I've grown to appreciate the quiet of living in the suburbs, but I do really miss being able to go just about anywhere either by walking or by public transportation.

    1. I avoid any sports that require excellent balance and coordination because that's just asking for trouble. I'm lucky I can handle riding a bike, lol.
