Harry Potter Moment of the Week (90)

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows Reviews. This week's topic is:
Favorite Lupin Moment

My favorite Lupin moment was his DADA class on boggarts. Not only was it a practical lesson in defense, but he showed his students how to face their biggest fears. Lupin gave them a safe place to face the dangers of the wizarding world, and I think that it made a huge difference to Harry as well as the other students. It was the first time they were able to see what DADA was really about. Go Lupin! XD

  1. LOVE that class too ♥ *Riddikulus!* It really was their first USEFUL DADA lesson, it was fun, it was practical and it was such a defining moment for Harry, not to mention the rest of the students!

  2. Such a great lesson - I went with this too, because I particularly love how supportive Lupin is of Neville, who just seems to get ignored all the time, and Neville ends up really doing well as a result of Lupin's faith in him.

    1. Yes! Even in one year at Hogwarts, I think Lupin left such a positive impression on all of his students.

  3. I love this moment so much! Like you said, not only was it fun to read but it was also a very practical lesson for the students. I also loved it because it made Neville confront his fears about Snape and allowed him an outlet for his fears and frustrations. I remembering feeling so happy for Neville when he went against boggart Snape because if your greatest fear is a certain teacher, it would do you well to confront the teacher, even if it is a fake teacher.

    1. I think this was a defining moment for Neville too. I was glad that he realized that standing up against someone he feared was a good thing.

  4. I chose this moment too! I love how supportive he is to all his students, but specifically how he encourages Neville. It's so great to see Neville be built up after watching him be torn down by Snape for two years.

  5. A lady I work with says 'Riddikulus' instead of ridiculous every time she's annoyed with something. It takes me back to this moment every time and I can't help but grin. You're so right, he is not only helping them fight dark creatures, but their own fears at the same time. Great choice :D
