Harry Potter Moment of the Week (49): Favorite Romantic Moment

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Favorite Romantic Moment

OK, so I racked my brain for some romantic moments in the series, and I kept drawing a blank except for this one, and that is how I arrived at my choice. I'm going with Ron and Hermione's big moment in Deathly Hallows, when they meet up with Harry after their trip to the Chamber of Secrets to destroy Hufflepuff's cup. I'd forgotten how funny Harry is in this scene from Chapter 31, "The Battle of Hogwarts":

There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.

"Is this the moment?" Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. "OI! There's a war going on here!"

  2. Hahaha I love how sassy Harry is in the books! And I aawed out loud at Ron gripping Hermione 'with such enthusiasm'! They are amazing and in the books they fit together even better than in the movies! Also, is there a better, more dramatic moment than the middle of a battle to realize you're in love? Great choice :)

    1. This scene is written so brilliantly; it's romantic, but it's also really, really funny! I was thrilled for Ron and Hermione, but Harry's snark made this scene extra special. :)

  3. It has been a long while since I last read the books and I have forgotten how much humour they had in little moments like this! It really made me smile, and I definitely think that is a great pick! :)

    1. I haven't read the books in a long time, either, which is part of the reason why I was having so much trouble coming up with a pick for this week, lol. I'm definitely long overdue for a series reread!

  4. I was so glad that this finally happened. Yes! Finally...Harry was so funny in this part. I am SHOCKED that you didn't go with a Maurader for this one though. I thought for sure you would have a Lupin and Tonks moment. Great pick! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. I'm shocked that I didn't choose a Marauder moment either, lol! Ron and Hermione were the first couple who popped into my head; I didn't even think of Harry and Ginny, lol.

  5. I can't remember when I read the books if I shipped any romance...I did however think Snape's tragic love of Lily was quite romantic. This was a cute moment and a LONG time coming.

    1. I wasn't especially attentive to any romances while I read the series; my thinking was usually more along the lines of, "Dear J.K. Rowling, please do not kill this character next," LOL. I think I was one of the few readers who didn't pick up on Snape's love for Lily until Deathly Hallows; again, I was too worried about the safety of my favorite characters! XD

  6. Aw! ♥ Awesome pick! I was thrilled when Hermione and Ron FINALLY got together in the books! And it was cute that they did it in front of Harry, their best friend :D And Harry's sass in the books is like my favorite thing ever!!! Awwww I can't stop picturing this moment now, it's too adorable haha!

    1. I LOVE Harry's snark in the books! It's one of my favorite things about the series, too. :D His comment here was just perfect; I was so happy for Ron and Hermione, of course, but I loved this moment even more for what Harry had to say, lol.
