Best Ron Moment
Ah, Ronald. Once again this week, I find myself waffling over which single moment to choose. Surely I have to mention his unforgettable performance in the Quidditch match in Order of the Phoenix that won Gryffindor the Quidditch Cup and which turned "Weasley Is Our King" into a victory song. There's also his destruction of the locket horcrux in Deathly Hallows, which that terrible, evil object totally had coming after the way it tortured Ron especially out of the trio. But I think my favorite Ron moment is way back in Sorcerer's Stone, when he orchestrates that thrilling wizard's chess win on the life-size chessboard. I really, really love that scene in the film!
I wish they had made Weasley is Our King into a song for the movies because I would have played it all the time!
ReplyDeleteI was bummed that the song didn't make it into the movie, either. That would have been awesome!
DeleteThat epic chess match has always been one of my favorite 'Ron' moments as well. It's so early in the series but he proves his worth full on with that game. They would never have made it any further if not for him! I'm a big fan of him coming out victorious in the Quidditch match too! Weasley IS our King :D And of course when he destroys that Horcrux after it showed him such terrible things. Eeep!
ReplyDeleteI was glad that Ron had his moment to shine as the trio made their way to the stone in the first book. He was brilliant! The destruction of the locket in the movie was super intense and creepy- I was only too happy when Ron stabbed it with Gryffindor's sword!
DeleteI wasn't able to post this week, but I love talking HP. You're right, I believe Ron's chess moment has to be that shining victory for him as a character. None of the other two would have been able to do it. Is it weird to say that another of my favorite Ron moments was when he was dosed with the love potion? That back and forth with him and Harry was absolutely hilarious about Romilda. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven
ReplyDeleteI LOVED Rupert Grint's performance in the HBP movie as a love-stricken Ron! It was perfect!
DeleteI love the fact that Weasley Is Our King was meant to unsettle and distract Ron and it ended up being his victory chant. I was just saying on someone else's blog that I love the fact that 11-year-old Ron won a high stakes chess game and sacrificed himself in the process. I don't know many 11-year-olds that would/could do that. Great choices!
ReplyDeleteI also loved how "Weasley Is Our King" got completely turned around on the Slytherins! And Ron was so heroic in the chess game; I always look forward to watching that scene in the movie.
DeleteExactly! And it was great that he got to show off his mad wizard chess skills!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite because I love them all! he is an awesome sidekick!
ReplyDeleteHe's the best best friend anyone could ask for! :D
DeleteAhhh this was one that popped to my mind straight away too! Ron definitely isn't given enough credit :)
ReplyDeleteHe was so brilliant in that chess game, not to mention ready to sacrifice himself. A sign of all the great Ron moments ahead! :D
