Harry Potter Moment of the Week (29): Favorite Moment in Book 6

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Favorite Moment in Book 6

For me, Half-Blood Prince is probably the saddest book in the series, thanks to, you know, That Moment That Must Not Be Named. I need to pick a lighter moment for this week's topic, so I'm going with Slughorn's Christmas party. I thought it was so sweet how Harry took Luna to the event. I also laughed at Hermione's attempts to avoid Cormac McLaggen all evening; I loved how that was incorporated into the film version of HBP.

  1. That party was a bit of a mind-rest for everyone, and I was glad Harry went with Luna. They seemed good together and it was nice to see then have a bit of fun.

    1. For sure! I've always found HBP to be one of the darkest books in tone, with all of the flashbacks to Voldemort's past and the ending. This little break from the heavier stuff was very welcome.

  2. Awwww, that's a wonderful moment, I agree with you Lee! I was always especially touched that Harry chose to bring Luna with him ♥ You're right that HBP is a terribly sad book but Slughorn's party is definitely one of the lighter and funnier moments :-D Awesome pick ^^

    1. I don't think Harry could have chosen a better companion to bring to the party. It was so sweet of him, and I just love Luna.

    1. McLaggen was so obnoxious I couldn't help laughing, but at the same time, I felt so bad for Hermione! She really got more than she bargained for agreeing to go with him!

  4. I felt the same way about book 6. Once book 5 hit, things really got sad and 6 didn't get better. I agree with your moment a lot. I love the eyebrows line so much!! I'd have to also say the moment when Harry and Ginny get together. I approve of that match even after all the controversy going on. It was a definite bright spot in this one. 1. I loved the shocked reactions of everyone to the news that JKR thought Harry and Hermione should have gotten together, lol. I've always been happy with the way the relationships turned out, and it made perfect sense for Harry and Ginny to get together since she had such a huge crush on him starting in Chamber of Secrets.
