Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet other book bloggers!
This week's question is:
What hyped up book was worth all of the fuss?
We both put off reading Vampire Academy for the longest time because we figured that it was just another vampire book, and we'd read our fair share of those already. The cover didn't do much to convince us to read it, either. Finally we decided to give it a shot, and man, did we kick ourselves for not reading it a lot sooner. It quickly became one of our favorite series.

ReplyDeleteI hope you get the chance to read the series- it's so, so good!
DeleteHopping through. Totally agree with you on VA. I just got the first book at the library - I want to re-read the series all in a row.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I borrowed all of the books from the library earlier this year; I definitely want to buy my own set.
DeleteStill haven't read those! I'm waiting to be in a vampire mood. My FF
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reading too many vampire books lately; I think that I needed a bit of a break after having read so many.
DeleteI avoided that series for the longest time as well! Then I finally gave in and fell in LOVE with all the characters. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF :)
When I finally did read it, I couldn't believe that I'd taken so long to do so. I love these characters, too!
DeleteExactly how it was for me! And when I finally read Vampire Academy, I was thrilled. Still need to get past the first book, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm an old follower and this is my FF:

I was late to the Vampire Academy party- I only read it this year. There are a ton of books that have been around for a while that I still haven't gotten to yet.
DeleteYes! Yes! Yes! Yes! I loved The Vampire Academy!!! It's absolutely one of fave series! Great choice, Girlies!!!

I love it, too! I thought that I'd read enough vampire books for a while, which was part of the reason why it took me forever to read it, and then VA turned out to be one of my favorite series, too.
DeleteOoh, would you hate me if I said I'm not really a fan of vampires? Eh, they just get on my nerves. I'm more of a contemporary kind of gal. Thanks for hopping by my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong at all with not liking vampires. Sometimes I need a break from them too, lol.
DeleteI haven't read Vampire Academy, but I have seen it on a few FF posts today. I think I will have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
I really recommend it- there's a lot of action, and the romance isn't sappy.
DeleteI haven't tried VA yet. It keeps getting pushed down on my TBR list. Thanks for following!

A lot of books keep getting pushed down on my TBR list because I'm always adding new books to it!
DeleteI absolutely adore this series :)!! It has it all : a kick ass heroine, amazing romance, non stop action !!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of those things about VA, too! Rose is one of my favorite YA heroines.

I kept seeing it in bookstores, but it didn't really grab my attention. When it came up as a Goodreads recommendation, I figured that I'd give it a try. I was sorry I'd waited so long to read it!
DeleteI've only read the first book in the VA series but I enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteOld follower :)
Here's my FF post!
Glad to hear it! I loved the rest of the series, too, and still need to buy all of the books.
DeleteFirst off, love your blog design, so cute!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really, really need to read the Vampire Academy series, I don't know why I've put it off this long!

That's how I felt when I read it at last- I didn't know why I had waited so long to get around to it!
DeleteThanks for the follow and the lovely compliment! :)
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed this series, because it's on my reading list and I've been putting it off. I have the her other series to start first but it's good to know there are still great stories out there that I've yet to discover :)
ReplyDeleteThere are so many books that I never would have read if I hadn't heard about them through blogging. I never have to worry about running out of books to read, that's for sure!
DeleteI haven't read VA yet though its one high on my list to read soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!

I'd been experiencing a bit of vampire burnout, but this series was really refreshing. I hope you enjoy it!

It was actually Goodreads that really convinced me to read VA. If it hadn't come up as a recommendation, I probably still wouldn't have read it.
DeleteI have the whole series here to read, I just haven't gotten around to them yet. :(
ReplyDeleteOld Follower.

I have a lot of books that I bought but never read. I plan to start getting through all of them very soon.
DeleteOh I love VA! Seriously, it is one of the best YA vampire series out there. Excellent pick. Thanks for stopping by my page. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI was so sad when I realized that I had no more VA books to read, but then I started reading Bloodlines and was happy to be back in this world once more.

I have been recced TVA series many times, so I definitely have to get on that. I guess it's because I'm not all that eager to read *another* vampire series...you know what I mean?

I completely understand. I was quite hesitant to pick up VA and put it off for a long time, but it it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.
DeleteThanks for following!
I haven't read 'Vampire Academy' yet, mostly because it's gotten really mixed reviews (I think I saw as many people list VA for this weeks FF as listed it for last week's, on the most OVER-hyped books). I'll have to flip through them eventually (I do love vampire stories -- guilty pleasure!)
ReplyDeleteI love vampire stories, too, and thought that VA was one of the best among a very crowded field.
DeleteI haven't read this yet! But it's on my list! :)

I'd love to see another Rose and Dimitri book, too. Have you heard about the Foretold anthology? Richelle Mead has a short story about Rose and Dimitri in it.
