Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet other book bloggers!
This week's question is:
Ally's been super busy with school and band practice lately, so I don't think that she's reading anything at the moment that isn't school-related. My current read is Looking for Alaska by John Green. It's the first time I'm reading one of his novels, and although I can see why so many people love his books (he is an amazing writer), I'm not sure how I like the actual story and some of the characters so far.

Everyone loves and raves about John Green and some of his books, but I have yet to read any of them. I feel guilty for thinking that his books aren't up my alley :/
ReplyDelete:)
Sometimes that happens. There are a lot of books that everyone seemed to love but when I read them, I wasn't crazy over them.

I haven't read any of John Green's books yet, although I'd like to find the time for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting my FF!

I've wanted to check out his books for a while, but they were always out at the library. Two were finally back in the last time I went, so I borrowed both Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns.

ReplyDeleteI have never read a John Green book yet, but I have several on my TBR pile.
Have a great weekend.
I've heard so many great things about his books that I had to give them a try.

This was the first John Green book that I read so it holds a special place in my heart lol. I actually read this for a book club and there was plenty of mixed opinions on certain characters and events. It's a interesting read for sure.

I'm about a third of the way through, and I'm undecided about how I like a few of the characters, especially Alaska. It definitely is an interesting read, though.

As of right now, I'm waiting for the story to pick up a bit. I can see why everyone raves about his writing, though.

I'm on the fence about reading The Fault in Our Stars because I usually shy away from books with such heavy subject matter.

I borrowed Paper Towns, too, which my cousin/co-blogger enjoyed reading.

Hi there-- I totally know what you mean! I read The Fault in Our Stars because everyone was RAVING about it-- and I wasn't as in love with it as everyone else. I see why people really like him, but he's just not for me, I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I'm hoping that the story really gets rolling because right now it's in a bit of a lull. Even if it doesn't, I'll still read Paper Towns; it might just be this particular book that I'm having trouble getting into. If Paper Towns doesn't work out, then his books probably aren't for me, either.

ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my FF! • New Follower
Although my opinion of the book is kind of mixed at the moment, I completely understand why he's such a popular author.

I need to read some John Green, everyone keeps going on about him! I saw an Abundance of Catherines in a charity shop recently, wish I'd bought it now =(

I do that a lot- see a book at a great price, decide that I don't need to buy it, then immediately regret the decision once I get home, lol.
