It's a freebie week where you pick your own topic, and we thought it would be fun to do:
Top Ten Characters Who Should Get Their Own Spin-Off Series
- The Marauders from J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter: Prongs, Padfoot, Moony, and Wormtail. Who wouldn’t want to read a prequel series about them and their adventures? Of course you’d get to see Lily and Snape, too!
- Abe Mazur from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series: Abe’s a sketchy guy. We’d love to get an in-depth look at his day-to-day “business” transactions. Plus, it’d be interesting to see him charming Janine Hathaway.
- Magnus Bane from Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices: He’s lived such a long life, he’d have plenty of stories to tell. We’d love to know more about his background and early life.
- Puck from Julie Kagawa's The Iron Fey series: This cunning trickster is hilarious. It’s got to be hard sharing the spotlight with Ash, so why not give Puck a series of his own ?
- Jasper Hale from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight: We enjoyed reading his backstory in Eclipse, and we would like to read more about his life before becoming a vampire.
- Bubba Burdette & Mark Fingerman from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Chronicles of Nick series: These two zombie hunters may make you laugh with some of their antics, but they’re dead serious about their jobs. They'd be the perfect protagonists for a book series that takes place during a zombie apocalypse.
- Jaime Lannister & Brienne of Tarth from George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire: We have never wanted two characters to become a couple as much as we want these two to get together. Jaime and Brienne. Enough said.
- Perri the Savage from Melina Marchetta's Finnikin of the Rock: There's something a little mysterious about him, and that’s what makes him such a compelling character.
- Finnick Odair & Annie Cresta from Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games: Not only would we like to learn more about their time in the Games, but we’d also like to read about their love story from the beginning.
- Ari & Janco from Maria V. Snyder's Study and Glass series: They’re one of our favorite duos ever. Despite the difference in their personalities, they seem like the best of pals. We’d like a glimpse into Janco’s troubled past and how Ari came into the picture.

Awesome list. I definitely agree with 3 and 9 - Magnus is one of the best characters and definitely deserves his own series, and everyone would love to read more about Finnick.
ReplyDeleteMagnus is one of our favorite Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices characters. His life just seems so fascinating.

Cool Idea for a list!!!! I agree with the Mauraders... that would be an awesome spin-off series!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT- Books That Scared Me
We'd be happy about any new Harry Potter-related books, but we're especially rooting for some about The Marauders.

Nice list! I agree with Jasper Hale, but that's only because I haven't read the other books. :)
ReplyDeleteJasper seems to have led a really interesting life. Reading a bit about his past only made us more curious about it.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
The Marauders indeed! And I'd prefer much about Snape :p and not so much about James, because I hate him :')

Yeah, that glimpse we got of James in Snape's memory didn't exactly portray James in a flattering light.

What a great list! I would LOVE to find out Finnick and Annie's story from HG - I'm sure it was adventurous. Jasper would also be really intriguing, and the Marauders would probably have to be written as a comedy!
ReplyDeleteWe're dying to know more about Finnick and Annie's story, too. The bits of info that we got in the books definitely were not enough for us.

Great list! TOTALLY with you on the Marauders, I'd love a prequel to Harry Potter. Would also love to read Finnick and Annie's story, and although I've only watched Game of Thrones I already ship Jaime and Brienne.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know if Jaime and Brienne's paths were going to cross during this season of GoT, or if we were going to have to hang in there until next year. We were very thankful that we didn't have to wait. :)

Great idea for a list. I would like to read about the marauders as well, but only if written by Rowling.
ReplyDeleteAgreed- she would absolutely have to write the series herself.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I would be ALL OVER a Marauders series and a Finnick and Annie series. Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my SYTYCD-inspired TTT!
We're pretty obsessed with the Marauders and would be in heaven if a series ever happened.
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
Finnick & Annie should get their own series. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! It'd be a great series, too!

Totally agree with Magnus Bane! I think I'd buy a whole series about him. It could start with his childhood and the story could be set like...a hundred years ago and then we'd have a world - and time-travel! - story all in one :)
ReplyDeleteTime-travel would be perfect for a series with Magnus in it! We'd also like to see it start with his childhood because we have a feeling that it was very interesting.
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
Finnick & Annie! I'd watch that! :-D Sadly I didn't know many of the others :-\
ReplyDeletecheck mine ;) Top Ten Books To Keep You Up All Night!
We'd read a book about Finnick and Annie in a heartbeat. Their story would make a perfect standalone novel (or even better, series).

YES TO THE MARAUDERS. SO FREAKING MUCH. I just want to see all of their adventures and James and Lily fall in love and the best (yet tragic) friendship in the world develop and create the marauder's map and become animagi and stick together through thick and thin until evil Voldemort smashes it all to pieces... Haha, sorry, I have way too many feelings about the maruaders that I got a little excited seeing them on this list. XD
ReplyDeleteMagnus is definitely my favorite character from The Mortal Instruments - he's just so hilarious (and I love it when he and Jace get into arguments, haha).
Finnick is probably my favorite character in The Hunger Games. But he made me as sad as Sirius Black did, and his past is full of so much heartbreak and abuse that I don't think I could handle a prequel about him. Then again, I'd love to see more about him and Annie falling in love, so I'd probably end up checking that out and loving it.
I actually am not so familiar with the rest of these books, but I'll have to check them out!
Great list!
Aimee // My list this week is Top Ten Ships That Broke My Heart (just a little)
We love the Marauders, too. :) It'd be interesting to see Magnus in different historical eras, especially with his sense of humor. And as sad as Finnick and Annie's story would be, we'd definitely read it anyway.
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
Wow, great list! I completely agree about Jasper. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's always been one of our favorite Twilight characters. We wouldn't mind reading some more stories about him.
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
Oh my gosh, this is SUCH an awesome topic! I love all your answers! I've always wanted a spinoff featuring the young Marauders and especially Annie and Finnick!!!
ReplyDeleteOH! Also, a Perri and Tesadora story would MAKE MY DAY.
ReplyDeleteYES! We were actually discussing Perri and Tesadora recently and how intrigued we are by the history between those two.
