Harry Potter Moment of the Week (160)

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme created by Uncorked Thoughts and hosted by Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Which Cast Member Do You Think Was a Perfect Fit for Their Character?

Oh man, there were SO many amazing actors and actresses in the films! The acting quality was just top-notch from Sorcerer's Stone all the way down to Deathly Hallows, Part 2. Even choosing a couple of cast members doesn't seem adequate here. I especially loved Richard Harris's Dumbledore, Maggie Smith's McGonagall, Gary Oldman's Sirius, and Alan Rickman's Snape. I didn't love Snape as a character in the books, but Alan Rickman's performance was absolutely stellar, so much so that I got all misty-eyed watching the boathouse scene in DH2.

  1. Oh my goodness that scene! It was terrible for me to watch too. Rickman was an amazing actor. I completely agree about the others as well. There were some truly fantastic actors cast in the series.

    1. The cast just got more and more impressive as the films went on. I was so happy to see some of the actors who weren't in every movie, like Emma Thompson as Trelawney and Jim Broadbent as Slughorn, return for DH2.

    2. You're so right. Emma Thompson I just love and I saw that she's in Beauty and the Beast :D I enjoyed seeing her and Alan in Sense and Sensibility. It was hilarious to me that Imelda Staunton was in it too.

    3. Yes, that's right! Such a different character from Umbridge, too. Robert Hardy (Fudge) was also in S & S, lol. I'm dying to see Beauty and the Beast! We tried to see it on opening night but it was all sold out, of course, lol.

    1. Both phenomenal actors. I first saw Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves as the Sheriff of Nottingham, so when I found out he was playing Snape, I knew he'd be perfect in the role, lol. And he was!

    2. Oh my gosh he was AWESOME as Nottingham! So hammy but devious as well. He must have had fun in that role! "Forcing me to hurt the people" I always crack up when he says that.

    3. LOL! I think he ordered Christmas canceled, too? Ah, that voice of his was fantastic!

  3. HOW did I forget Gary Oldman as SIRIUS?! That's it, I need to turn in my Sirius-fangirl membership D: In any case, I CLEARLY agree with you, not only on Sirius but everyone else! And yes, I'm far from a Snape fan but Rickman made me feel differently about his character. His performance is beyond amazing ♥

    1. Hahaha! When Gary Oldman was announced as Sirius, I was beyond thrilled! I LOVED Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon in the film adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, so it wasn't a surprise that he could show the other side of Snape in DH. And of course he was so brilliant at playing more villainous characters, too, lol.
