September 2016 Recap

Happy . . . OCTOBER?!!! What???!!! September was seriously a total blur— lots of real life stuff going on meant not much reading going on. :/ On the upside, the blog reached its 1,000th post in September!

I got exactly one book read in the entire month, but it was a big one, both literally and figuratively: Empire of Storms! I like to think that reading it was the equivalent of reading 3 average-sized books. XD

Just look at how badass Aelin appears on this cover, like, if you dare glance at her the wrong way, she's going to destroy you with her fire!

Favorite quote of the month? It's from Empire of Storms, of course!

And Manon understood in that moment that there were forces greater than obedience, and discipline, and brutality. Understood that she had not been born soulless; she had not been born without a heart.

    1. Thank you! :D And I'm happy it's fall, too; if only the weather here would cooperate so that it would actually feel like fall, lol.

  2. Happy 1000th post! Cheers to 1000 more *clinks glass*
I've been wondering about trying the ToG series - I hear that the later books are much better than the first few, I just don't know if I'd have the patience to get through the first ones.

    1. Thank you! :D OMG, I so hear you on real life getting in the way of reading EoS! It pretty much took me ALL of September to get it read. :/ YES- WE MUST CHAT ABOUT IT SOON! I HAVE THOUGHTS!!! XD

  4. Ahhh Empire of Storms took me over two weeks to finish lol. It was so big! I really enjoyed Elide's chapters the most, and then Mannon's chapters. I didn't really like Aelin's chapters that much though, I felt so disconnected from her... Like I didn't really like her at all. So the ending wasn't heart breaking for me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all I think! But I'm glad there's only one more book to go!

1000th post?! Wow that's awesome! You've been going really well with Rally the Readers. Can't believe it's been so long now!

    1. I can't believe it's been this long, either! I'm happy that you're still blogging, too! I'm not great at sticking with something after starting it, so this is a new record for me, lol.

I knew it was going to take me a while to read EoS because of the page count alone, but then real life got in the way, too. I feel like the series has gradually shifted from Celaena/Aelin as the sole focus and has really moved some of the other characters into the spotlight, like Manon and Elide. I loved Manon's story line in this one!

    2. I just finished reading this! And I agree that it has slowly moved away from Aelin as the sole focus, which I'm actually really glad about. I really didn't like Aelin in this book, I felt really disconnected from her and I really hated that she kept so many secrets from EVERYONE.

I agree, Mannon was pretty cool in this. I've really enjoyed watching her character growth in this series. I'm really excited to see what happens with her story line after her heritage has been revealed! I also really, really liked Elide's chapters, I think perhaps because her 'romance' was only just starting in this book. But it was really jarring seeing Lorcan in a better light and starting to like him.

    3. LOL, I wss quite surprised to find myself starting to like Lorcan, too. That was a really great slow burn romance, and it was also wonderful to see the evolution of Elide's character. I love the bond between her and Manon, and yes- can't wait to see what comes out of the reveal about the latter's heritage.

    4. I'm more excited about Mannon's journey right now than Aelin's haha. I want to see how she tackles it!
