Scariest Moment in the Series
I know I've mentioned one of these moments before, but I couldn't leave it out of this week's post because it truly did scare the sh*t out of me, both in the Half-Blood Prince book and in the movie. That scene in the cave where Dumbledore and Harry go in search of the locket Horcrux and the Inferi emerge from the water just gives me the creeps to end all creeps. I'm shuddering just thinking about it.
I also have to include the Aragog scene in Chamber of Secrets, specifically the part when all of his icky, hungry kids chase Harry, Ron, and Fang. I even hate playing that level in the Lego HP video game, lol.
That scene was really scary, but not as scary for me as the one I picked. I just sort of expected that something majorly bad will happen because everything was peaceful and quiet and I just KNEW. :X Still pretty scary though! :X
ReplyDeleteThe eerie quiet of the cave when Harry and Dumbledore entered it definitely signaled that bad stuff was about to happen because it was way too quiet for a place associated with Voldemort. And the Inferi just terrify the crap out of me!
DeleteYeah, the Inferi were creepy as hell, especially considering that they were hidden in the depths and then just pop up at Harry - in the movies that part scares the crap out of me (STILL) And worse when you consider that poor Dumbledore was left incapacitated and Harry was too freaked to remember his tip about the light O.O I would have ended up dead under water, I just know it..Harry almost did too though tbh *shudders*
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have remembered to use light against the Inferi, either because I would have been in such an utter state of panic. So yep, I totally would have been dragged under the water. :O
DeleteYeah, the cave scene is definitely one of the creepiest, I was not an fan of the Inferi at all! And the spider scene where you meet Aragog had a definite ick factor for me too. Great picks! I ultimately went with a moment from Deathly Hallows... HP MOTW
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders and bugs in general, so gigantic spiders are especially gross! I felt really bad for poor Ron because he was so deathly afraid of them.
DeleteMine was the spider in number two, too! I mean, blaaaa, I HATE spiders and snakes, but there was way more spiders in that one part so it won. Great post!

Aragog and his kids were terrifying! Harry, Ron, and Fang were so lucky they were saved by the flying car!
DeleteI'm with you! The Inferi were an unknown at that point and I had no idea how he was going to get through that specifically because of all that had gone on beforehand. And spiders! YES I get freaked out by them so much.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know how Harry and Dumbledore were going to get away from the Inferi, either! That situation looked utterly hopeless until Dumbledore drove them off with the fire. And I never understood how Hagrid wasn't repulsed by Aragog; I know I definitely was!
DeleteOh I remember that scene! Yup the last few movies/books were darker and the Horcrux scenes were kinda creepy scary.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! The destruction of the locket was particularly frightening to me.
DeleteI agree completely, that scene with the Inferi in the books scared the crap out of me! And I was reading it in the middle of the day. Usually when I read scary parts in books if I'm reading it during the day time I don't often get that scared. But that scene was so creepy I still got scared.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with the spiders, because spiders are spiders. I can't stand little spiders, let alone huge spiders!
Ditto- a yucky spider is a yucky spider, no matter its size. I went to a midnight screening of Half-Blood Prince, so it was the middle of the night when I watched the cave scene- super scary!
