Harry Potter Moment of the Week (9): Favorite School Subject

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Favorite School Subject

I'd love to study every subject at Hogwarts, but the one I'd be most interested in is Defense Against the Dark Arts. First, I believe it's very important to be able to protect oneself against dark magic. Reading the HP books, I was always fascinated by the different creatures the students studied, too. I'd be curious to know what my boggart looked like, plus I'd be very happy for the opportunity to freeze some Cornish pixies as vengeance for how annoying they are in the Lego Harry Potter video games. Finally, I'd just love to be in Professor Lupin's class because he's such an awesome teacher.

  1. I couldn't agree with you more: I want to study ALL THE CLASSES. I don't think I'll ever stop dreaming about that haha! But hands down, DADA has the best and most exciting spells, the most practicality and...Lupin ♥ And then we could have had Harry for a teacher when the DA is formed!! :D Awesome pick ^^

    1. I LOVE the DADA spells! Of course, I would only use them for defense and not for causing trouble, haha. And Dumbledore's Army- what I wouldn't give to be a part of it! Harry was such an awesome teacher!

  2. DADA would definitely be my #1 class of choice followed by actually lets rearrange things a bit. My #1 class of choice would be apparation since I've always wanted to teleport then DADA then Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology.

    1. Being able to apparate would be so cool, not to mention money-saving on things like gas for a car and airfare, lol. I'm not very good with plants so I don't know how I'd do in Herbology, but I'd love to take Care of Magical Creatures.

  3. Lupin was pretty great, and I really did enjoy that boggart scene. The cornish pixies were so much fun watching Hermoine be the one the wrangle them while teach was sliding out the door LOL. Great choice! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. Lockhart was such an awful teacher, lol. Thank goodness the students actually learned things the following year with Lupin!

  4. I would want to take them all, too! DADA would probably be the most useful and Lupin would be amazing! For some reason I think I'd really like Potions too, which kind of surprises me because I didn't enjoy Chemistry and mixing things. It would be different for magic, though!

    1. I liked learning the principles of Chemistry and balancing the equations, but I was always afraid of mixing the wrong chemicals together and blowing something up in the lab, lol. So I'm not sure if I'd be an ace Potions student!

  5. This class would be neat but would probably scare me to death. I mean... I think they should for real show you pictures like in CSI. I mean .. you need to see what it looks like when these dark arts get you.

    1. That is very true. Moody's in-class demonstration of the Unforgivable Curses on the spiders was pretty scary, and they were only spiders.

  6. Good choice, Defense Against the Dark Arts would probably be my choice as well. I also, I would love to attend Potions though I would probably fail and get many evil stares from Snape. But, it would be worth it to see Snape come in and slam the door at the beginning of every class. Plus the dungeon setting's pretty epic!

    1. I wouldn't be able to do anything right in Potions with Snape looking over my shoulder. He's so intimidating! But I would love to sit in on his class just once to say I did.
