Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet other book bloggers!
This week's question is:
Our moods typically don't affect what we decide to read. Sometimes we do feel the need to take a break from a certain genre, and we'll try something different for a change. When we can't figure out what we'd like to read next, we'll usually pick up an old favorite, like Harry Potter, and read that.

Hopping through. Picking up old favorites is the best way to lose yourself I think.

Absolutely. Rereads of books that I love are sort of like catching up with old friends.

Sometimes it's really good to just try something different! I'm a new GFC follower :)

I read a lot of paranormal, but lately I've been trying to branch out more into other genres. I'm glad that I've been making the effort because I've discovered a lot of great new books.

I always love flipping through old favorites! I usually start by just saying "Oh, I'll just read a few chapters..." and then I end up re-reading the whole book!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
I've almost done that a few times, where browsing a few chapters practically turns into rereading the entire book. I usually have to force myself to put the book down!

I have done that before, stared at my bookshelves and nothing appeals to me other than an old favorite.

Sometimes I can have a stack of library books waiting to be read, and a glance at my bookshelves tempts me into just picking up one of my favorites instead.

I definitely agree! My mood doesn't change what I read
ReplyDeleteA lot of times I just compare my TBR list with what the library has on the shelves when I go, and that's what determines my next read.

I think that Harry Potter answers all mood problems :)))
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!!!
Here's my #FF post
I totally agree! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI do that too! Sometimes I get tired of reading the same genre, so I switch to something else.
ReplyDeleteGreat answer!

I've been reading more contemporary lately; it's been a nice break from all of the paranormal that I usually read.

Can't fail with an old favorite.

New Follower.
You definitely can't. There are some books that I know I'll never get tired of reading over and over again, like the Harry Potter series.
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
I find the same. I need to take a break from the genre I've been reading for a while. I can usually go back to that genre after a while of not reading it though.

I'm like that, too. After a break from my usual genres, I can return to them with a refreshed mind-set.

I have the same. If I can't decide what I want to read, I always seem to end up with something I always love. Like Harry Potter.

I'd love to reread all of the HP books soon. And then watch all of the movies again, too!

Old Follower!
ReplyDeleteYes, my reading habits tend to change. When I'm really mad or upset, I'll tend to just lay on the couch and read a book or two in that day.

Sitting down with a good book is my favorite way of unwinding and forgetting about anything that's bothering me for a while.

My cousin started rereading the whole series last week, and I'm so tempted to join her!

Harry Potter is a good favorite.

Reading those books always makes me happy. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI have only read the first book in the Harry Potter series, but I promised on my blog that I will read the books this year. The second book is on its way! ;)

Hello! Stopping by from the hop!
ReplyDeleteMy mood won't affect what I read but it can sometimes change my mood depending on what I'm reading.

I've never thought about this much before, but reading can affect my mood. There have been books that made me laugh and a few that nearly had me in tears. As you said, it all depends on the type of book that I'm reading.

I love an old favorite.
ReplyDeleteI do, too. Even though I know exactly what's going to happen in the book, I still love every minute of the reread.
