Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
It's a back to school themed freebie this week, so I went with:
Books Set in School
I didn't really care for most of the books I had to read for school, so I decided to make a list (a little shy of 10) of some of my favorite books set in a school.
3. Finishing School by Gail Carriger

Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality focuses on teaching its students fine arts such as spying, poisoning, and weapons concealment. I definitely wish those courses had been available when I was in school, lol.
5. Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

My favorite Melina Marchetta book after her Lumatere Chronicles trilogy.
6. Shades of London by Maureen Johnson

I love how this series mixes paranormal, suspense, and humor. Hoping that there'll be a 4th book one day.
7. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I don't read a lot of contemporary, but this one, set in a boarding school in Paris, was a winner.
8. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

I loved the blend of historical fiction/supernatural in this book, which takes place in a boarding school in Victorian England.
What books made your list this week?

Ooh fun choices. HP of course ha ha, the ultimate pick! And Vampire academy I want to read!
ReplyDeleteI just read a Maureen Johnson book recently- Truly Devious- but I haven't read anything else by her...
Curious to see what you thought of Truly Devious! I've had it on my shelf for a while. Shades of London is awesome, so I hope Truly Devious will be just as good!
DeleteNice choices! Harry Potter is great. :) I've never read The Raven Boys, but I think it sounds interesting. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend The Raven Boys and the whole Raven Cycle series! :D
DeleteI haven't read any of the books in your post... So I have new to me books to explore!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to my TTT post this week: https://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2018/08/top-ten-tuesday-back-to-schoollearning.html
They're all worth checking out! Hope you decide to give some of them, or all of them lol, a try!
DeleteI did a list of nonfiction books this week: http://www.brookereviewsnsweeps.com/2018/08/back-to-school-with-nonfiction/
ReplyDeleteI had a discussion about books with a coworker this week and she was mentioning some of the books she liked, including Vampire Academy. I think I'm going to ask her to be my beta reader for my NaNoWriMo book.
I put off reading Vampire Academy for a really long time because the cover just didn't do anything for me, but when I finally read it, I wished I'd picked it up sooner!
