Book Loot (20)

It's time for the October edition of Book Loot! I find it hard to turn down a really tempting Kindle Daily Deal, so when I saw two of Maggie Stiefvater's books, Lament and Ballad on sale for $1.99 each, I didn't think twice about grabbing them. I also FINALLY had some time to go the library; I know I went there once earlier this year but can't remember exactly when, so it's been a while, lol.

My Avatar: The Last Airbender obsession continues! Although I watched all three seasons on Amazon Prime, when I saw that they were being packaged up in a DVD box set, of course I HAD to have it. I also fell in love with this Little Mermaid jigsaw puzzle that I saw online; I haven't had time to assemble it yet, but I'm hoping to soon. And I've been meaning to try out one of those adult coloring books that are currently very popular but hadn't found one I really liked until now. This one is called Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest & Coloring Book, and it has some really pretty scenes in it. They have a lot of fantasy elements to them, which sold me on choosing this coloring book over one with some really cool cityscapes.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

  1. YAY for sweet book deals, ESPECIALLY when they involve Queen Stiefvater :D You KNOW I'll be looking out for your thoughts/reviews on those two, right?! AtlA DVD set?! Win! I ordered one online but the third disc ended up being an obvious direct burn of when the series aired on tv, with commercials and poor picture quality. o_O It was a bummer. Yours looks lovely though, I love the packaging! Is there any goodies inside? Like cool art or something?! LOVE that colouring book too, by the looks of it, I could get lost in it for hours too ♥ Gorgeous haul all around here Lee, have fun with your new treasures xxxx

    1. That really sucks about the 3rd AtLA disc! Nick really needs to get its act together with giving this series the super, super deluxe treatment it deserves and I'm sure most fans would happily shell out for. While this set has really nice packaging all around, including the artwork on the individual discs, it's basically a transfer of the original DVDs that were previously available. I was surprised to see a trailer for another Nick show that advertised it being available on DVD AND VHS (!). The picture quality is OK, but what this beautiful animation really needs is a Blu-Ray upgrade. Sorry about all my geeky ranting, LOL. I mean, I never owned AtLA on DVD before, so this was worth it to me, but I feel bad for the fans who've been waiting for a really nice set with all of the bells and whistles.

    1. I'd been resisting for a while but finally broke down because I really liked the illustrations in this one. And I'm not even going to pretend like I could resist Maggie Stiefvater books as Kindle Daily Deals, lol!
