Harry Potter Moment of the Week (21): Favorite Quote

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Favorite Quote

And I thought last week's topic (favorite magical item) was difficult! Can I get away with choosing everything that Dumbledore ever said? Because seriously, so many of my favorite HP quotes belong to him, and I feel like every line of dialogue he ever uttered was so unforgettably profound. If I had to pick the one that always pops into my head first, it's what he says to Harry in Sorcerer's Stone in the Mirror of Erised scene:

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that."

I just think it's a beautiful line, and there's so much truth to it, and from the first time I read Sorcerer's Stone, it's held a special place in my heart.

  1. Awww I love that quote! :) It's so true. It took me ages to narrow it down to a quote because the series is so quotable! x
I've added my linky now too, forgot it earlier! Derp.

    1. It is SO difficult to pick just a single favorite quote from the whole series! These have to be some of the most quoted books EVER!

  2. LOL! I SO wanted to cheat this week too! YES ALL of Dumbledore's words are, as you said: unforgettably profound ♥ That quote you chose is one of the best ones for sure though...it's incredibly poignant and oh-so true! I agree with you that it's extra special, if only because it's one of the first 'Harry & Dumbledore moments' throughout the series that truly shows Dumbledore's wisdom...and his mystique hehe Sigh :)

    1. Dumbledore always seemed to know the right thing to say in any situation. The man was an absolute genius, and so is J. K. Rowling for writing all of his brilliant lines!

  3. Lovely pick. I almost chose it myself.
It's one I should try and live by, actually, but I choose to make myself stupid when it comes to it :D

    1. It's a quote that I would love to live by, too! I don't think I'd be very good at sticking to it, though, lol.
