2018 Releases I Need to Read

As much as I'm really, really, really, really, really trying to stick to a budget this year, I've got to make allowances for all of these lovelies:

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
Publication Date: January 16

This comes out next week, and I'm super excited! I love Maureen Johnson's Shades of London series and am eagerly awaiting this one very much.

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman
Publication Date: February 27

I freaked out when I spotted ARCS of this at YALLFest and was lucky enough to snag one. Set in the same world as Rachel Hartman's fantastic Seraphina, I can't wait to return to that world.

Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi
Publication Date: March 6

When I heard that Juliette, Warner, Kenji, Warner, Warner, Warner, Warner were returning for more books, my first thought was, "WHAAAAAAAT????!!!! MORE WARNER????!!!!!!!!" So, um, yeah, I'm a tad excited to read this book. Possibly because of Warner. XD

Defy the Worlds by Claudia Gray
Publication Date: April 3

I just about jumped for joy when I held an ARC of this in my hands at YALLFest. Defy the Stars was one of my favorite reads last year, and anyone who's looking for a bit of a Westworld fix while waiting for the show to return might want to check out this series.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
Publication Date: May 1

Like everyone else who's enjoyed the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, I'm curious to see where the story heads next.

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
Publication Date: December 4

Oops, I didn't get to Lord of Shadows last year, but I've got a bit of time to catch up before this final book in The Dark Artifices releases.

And, of course, there's:

Throne of Glass 7 by Sarah J. Maas

It's too early for a title or cover, but I know one thing that's certain: this book is probably going to absolutely wreck me. And I can't wait! XD

Are any of these books on your TBR? What other 2018 releases are you looking forward to reading?

2017 Releases I Need to Read

It's a new year, which means lots of new book releases to look forward to! All of these are on my must-read list for 2017:

Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken
Publication Date: January 3

Seriously, I feel like I just read last year's Passenger, and here's the sequel, arriving tomorrow! Time travel fans will definitely want to add this duology to their TBRs.

The Dark Days Pact by Alison Goodman
Publication Date: January 31

I might have pushed the first book, The Dark Days Club, just a tad last year. XD Because it was soooooooo gooooooood!!! I'm not exaggerating! Words are inadequate to describe how excited I am for this book!

Dawn Study by Maria V. Snyder
Publication Date: January 31

This is supposed to be the conclusion to Yelena and Valek's adventures, which have spanned 6 books and 1 spin-off series. I'm already feeling sentimental over this one; it's been about 7 years since I first read Poison Study, where it all began.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab
Publication Date: February 21

I'm not sure I can handle the conclusion to Schwab's Shades of Magic series after what happened in the previous book, A Gathering of Shadows. I love the elemental magic, alternate Londons, and the impossibly many-sided coat that belongs to Kell, one of the protagonists.

Alex and Eliza: A Love Story by Melissa de la Cruz
Publication Date: April 11

I must read this because . . . Hamilton! I love how the cover seems to be a nod to the musical's logo.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
Publication Date: May 2

A year is never enough to recover from the ending of a Sarah J. Maas book, LOL. My mind continues to reel from the fifty million OMG! moments that happened in A Court of Mist and Fury.

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
Publication Date: May 23

After 9 Shadowhunters novels, I was a little wary that there was enough momentum for not only a 10th novel but 2 more whole series, but Lady Midnight totally smashed my skepticism. I love the epicness of the cover of Lord of Shadows!

Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab
Publication Date: June 13

Another awesome cover, and another 2017 release from V.E./Victoria Schwab. Scary stuff isn't usually my thing, but I can't wait to read more about Schwab's monsters!

And definitely NOT to be forgotten:

Throne of Glass 6 by Sarah J. Maas

No title or cover for this yet, but I'm sure it's going to wreck my life and leave me a sobbing mess before its last page. It's the series finale after all, and following the sheer devastation that Empire of Storms left behind in its wake, I don't know how I'm going to make it through this book. Maybe with lots of therapy and chocolate. XD

What 2017 releases are you looking forward to the most?

Fall 2015 Releases I Need to Read

Well hello there! It's time for the 2015 edition of Fall Releases I Need to Read. I actually considered skipping this year's post because I felt like the list was a little shorter than in the previous two years, but this post has sort of become an annual thing for me, and in the end, a sense of continuing tradition won out. Plus, I NEEDED to highlight Queen of Shadows, which releases today!

Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass #4) by Sarah J. Maas
Publication Date: September 1 (TODAY!!!)

GAHHHHHH!!!!! I don't know if I'm ready for this. I mean, I just have to think about last year's Heir of Fire to summon the torrent of feelings I had at the end of it. Um, has anyone preemptively formed a post-QoS support group yet? If so, please sign me up now.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Smoke and Shadow, Part 1
by Gene Luen Yang
Publication Date: October 6

ZUKO!!!!! I've loved both Avatar graphic novels I've read so far, and I expect to feel the same about this one! I'll probably end up waiting until all three parts are published in a hardcover edition, though, to match the versions I already own. But I HAD to include Part 1 of Smoke and Shadow here!

Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink by Elvis Costello
Publication Date: October 13

I rarely read nonfiction, but as a HUGE Elvis fan, of course I need to read his memoir. I'm eagerly anticipating reading this not just because it's EC, but because he's a fantastic storyteller in concert. Also, when Rhino Records reissued a chunk of his back catalog a while back, Elvis penned new liner notes, and they were absolutely absorbing to read.

Manners and Mutiny (Finishing School #4) by Gail Carriger
Publication Date: November 3

This is such a fun series set in a world that I adore. As much as I want to see how the series concludes, I'm also sad to see Sophronia's adventures come to an end.

Are there any other upcoming fall releases that you think I should add to my list?

Fall 2014 Releases I Need to Read

I can't believe that it's almost been a year since I wrote a similar post back in 2013. Some things don't change, though, like how I find myself with another list of must-have titles that are being released within the next two months. Quite a few of these belong to series whose books made last year's list; the kind of sad part is, I still have to read a few of those books from last year's list! That minor detail has not kept me from pre-ordering the following books, however; nope, not at all.

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas
Publication Date: September 2

I'm practically crying with happiness because this comes out tomorrow! The early reviews I've seen have been nothing but stellar, so I'm expecting another book hangover once I'm done reading this, and I had a pretty massive one after finishing last year's Crown of Midnight.

Unmade (The Lynburn Legacy #3) by Sarah Rees Brennan
Publication Date: September 23

Um, yeah. So I still have to read book #2, Untold. But that's OK! I'm totally going to! And soon.

Chaos (Guards of the Shadowlands #3) by Sarah Fine
Publication Date: October 7

Yep, I still have to read the second book in this series, too. I shall get caught up, though. Perhaps that won't happen by the release date for Chaos, but the upside of having more than one sequel on hand is that you can jump right into the next book without delay!

In the Afterlight (The Darkest Minds #3) by Alexandra Bracken
Publication Date: October 28

WHAT?! You haven't read The Darkest Minds yet?! This book and its sequel, Never Fade, are FREAKING. AWESOME. I haven't had a lot of 5 star reads this year, but these are two of them, and I expect In the Afterlight to make it three 5 star reads for the series.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle #3) by Maggie Stiefvater
Publication Date: October 21

This. This right here will make my reading year. I have coveted this book from the moment I finished 2013's The Dream Thieves. I love Blue. I love the Raven Boys. I love Maggie Stiefvater. That is all.

Are you excited for any of these upcoming releases, too?

Fall 2013 Releases I Need to Read

There's always a ton of upcoming releases that I'm looking forward to, but these books in particular cannot find their way into my hands fast enough. I got the idea to spotlight them when I recently checked out my Amazon pre-orders and realized that there was a bit of a list. Usually I just wait until a book is published and buy a copy then, but in the case of the following four titles, I MUST have them ASAP!

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle #2) by Maggie Stiefvater
Publication Date: September 17

I have been dying to read this ever since I finished The Raven Boys, and it's one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Maggie Stiefvater's prose is so beautiful, and these characters have such stunning depth to them. Ah, Gansey; I've missed you terribly!

Untold (The Lynburn Legacy #2) by Sarah Rees Brennan
Publication Date: September 24

The ending of Unspoken caused me many a stab straight to my heart, so at least I know to prepare myself for further heartache in this sequel. Notice I said "know to prepare myself;" I don't think any amount of preparation is enough to handle the degree to which Untold will probably leave me shattered.

Fractured (Guards of the Shadowlands #2) by Sarah Fine
Publication Date: October 29

I absolutely loved Sanctum, with its unique world and two amazing characters, Lela and Malachi. These two have such fantastic chemistry, and I'm extremely excited to find out what happens to them in Book 2.

The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4) by Richelle Mead
Publication Date: November 19

Can you say, "Adrian has a POV?" This should be extraordinarily entertaining because, come on, it's Adrian Ivashkov we're talking about here.

Are you looking forward to any of these books, too? What other fall releases do you need to read, like, NOW?
