Harry Potter Moment of the Week (145)

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows Reviews. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! A list of upcoming topics can be found here.

This week's topic is:
Would You Rather Hang Out with Dean or Seamus?

I remember either watching a documentary or reading somewhere that JKR had written a backstory for Dean that didn't make it into the books. I'd love to know what that backstory was, so if I hung out with Dean, maybe I'd finally get to find out? XD

Fandom Mashups (73)

Fandom Mashups is a feature hosted by Lunar Rainbows Reviews. There's a different scenario each week, and you choose a "dream team" of five characters from five different fandoms whom you think are best suited for the situation.

This week's topic is:
You've time-traveled back into the 70's — groovy baby! Who do you want to "give peace a chance" with?

  1. The Tenth Doctor: Whenever there's time travel involved, I'm always going to call this guy! ♥
  2. Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter): I think she'd really enjoy the 70's vibe, lol. Plus, magic comes in very handy in any decade.
  3. Magnus Bane (The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices): Magnus has lived a very long life, and maybe he'd want to revisit this particular time.
  4. Blue Sargent (The Raven Cycle): Blue would probably get a kick out of 70's styles, lol.
  5. Luke Skywalker (Star Wars): I picked Luke just because I thought it'd be funny for him to visit the decade in which the first Star Wars movie was released. XD

September 2016 Recap

Happy . . . OCTOBER?!!! What???!!! September was seriously a total blur— lots of real life stuff going on meant not much reading going on. :/ On the upside, the blog reached its 1,000th post in September!

I got exactly one book read in the entire month, but it was a big one, both literally and figuratively: Empire of Storms! I like to think that reading it was the equivalent of reading 3 average-sized books. XD

Just look at how badass Aelin appears on this cover, like, if you dare glance at her the wrong way, she's going to destroy you with her fire!

Favorite quote of the month? It's from Empire of Storms, of course!

And Manon understood in that moment that there were forces greater than obedience, and discipline, and brutality. Understood that she had not been born soulless; she had not been born without a heart.

If You Could Change One Thing from Book 4, What Would It Be?

Well, there is the whole Voldemort regaining his body thing, but if that didn't happen, the series would have probably been quite a bit shorter, lol. So I'll go with Harry and Ron not speaking to each other after Harry's name popped out of the Goblet of Fire. Up to that point, their friendship had been a given, and watching them fight caused me much pain. :(

You've discovered the Sword in the Stone! Who do you want to help you free it?

  1. Harry Potter: He wielded Godric Gryffindor's sword like a pro, so I feel pretty confident that he might be able to help out here, especially since he can always try using magic!
  2. Aelin (Throne of Glass): Aelin wouldn't let something like a stone keep her from access to a weapon.
  3. Sabriel (The Old Kingdom): If this lady isn't deemed worthy to free the sword, I don't know who is!
  4. Gansey (The Raven Cycle): Gansey's search for the Welsh king Glendower always reminded me of an Arthurian quest, so I think that his input would be very valuable.
  5. King Arthur: The go-to guy for this task if everyone else fails. XD
