Such a shame that there were all those factors that made it fall short. Great review! Too bad it didn't end up actually being as good as it sounded :( Flat (or confusing) characterization is a pretty big detriment (to me anyways) for overall enjoyment of a story. Plus the slow pacing have me thinking I may pass on this one, but I enjoyed reading your review all the same!Michelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09220874121683955988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873992034703741659.post-61987992004795890912013-06-07T12:47:08.051-04:002013-06-07T12:47:08.051-04:00Sometimes a book just doesn't click, and that&...Sometimes a book just doesn't click, and that's what happened with this book and me.Lee @ Rally the Readershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03316252000736657757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873992034703741659.post-26931395360486526072013-06-07T12:39:10.979-04:002013-06-07T12:39:10.979-04:00I didn't know the widget made sound, either, u...I didn't know the widget made sound, either, until I moused over it and this monster noise came blaring out of the speakers, lol. There have been a lot of spam comments lately, including several that Blogger's filter actually did catch.

What kept me reading was the hope that a big plot twist was coming and/or something really scary would happen because I felt like the setup for those things was there. I hate it when summaries make the book into something it won't accomplish. If it says I'll be creeped out, that actually has to happen so I can enjoy myself. If I notice otherwise, I'm going to grow more and more frustrated, and I can imagine how you must've felt trying to navigate all the confusion of the plot and unnecessary pointless hints. But most of all I'd have put down the book indefinitely for the lackluster main character. I can't get through a book with a main character who's dull and whose voice is basically lifeless. I commend you for pushing onward xP Marathonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12998824096375362353noreply@blogger.com
